we entered the war because the Japaneses thought attacking us would be wise because it would fear us out of the war But their high general said "i think we did the opposite and have awoken the giant" (US being the giant)

Hitler had already conquered Poland, Western Europe, Scandinavia, and the Balkans, Greece, and had turned toward Russia, while also threatening the Suez Canal in North Africa. They adopted a Beat German First policy, giving Japan secondary importance until that time. Roosevelt and Joint Chief of Staff Chairman George Marshal determined to allocate roughly two-thirds of US resources to Germany and one-third to Japan until German's surrender, at which point, all of Great Britain's and America's resources would shift to Japan.
