The bomb wasn't ready although it may have been almost so by the end of the Okinawa battle. More to the point, the bomb was used to make a political statement as much as a military one. Dropping it on some far off post like Guadalcanal would serve no political purpose. Also, note that it is just a bomb after all, albeit a large one. Dropping it on a coral island or jungle mountain range would hardly have done the damage done by dropping on a heavily built up area like a city or military base. Those operations still require - to this day - significant ground forces.
I believe it was the Battle of Okinawa, which was on the island of Okinawa(SW of Japan) This is of course not including the Atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Kyoto is just next to Osaka. Hiroshima is the largest island in Japan. It is in Kanto region ,under Shimane (if you know this place.) Nagasaki is in Kyushu. It is the feet of Japan. A little close to Okinawa.
The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki caused Japan to surrender just weeks after the end of the fighting at Okinawa.
Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Guadacanal.
First, when those Island were invaded, the nuclear bomb was not ready yet. Second, it took a place in the main island for the bomb to be taken seriously.
In Japan you should visit Tokyo, Sapporo, Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Yokohama, Mt. Fuji, and Okinawa just to name a few.
The distance from Naha, Okinawa, to Hiroshima, Japan, is 634 air miles. That equals 1,020 kilometers or 551 nautical miles.
The battle for Okinawa, had proven to be a small scaled example of what the invasion of Japan would be like. The decisions to drop the bombs, were largely based upon that battle.
Makin Attol, Guadacanal, Pelilulu, Tarawal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa
Three off the top of my head areBattle of MidwayBattle of OkinawaBattle of Iwo JimaYou could also count the bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima as victories, I imagine.
The driving distance is 697 miles.
The fierce resistance by the Japanese and the high casualty figures both military and civilian as well as the Kamikaze attacks on the fleet were just one of the factors that formed the deceision to use the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The battle of Okinawa may have led the world into the Nuclear Age.
US Marines were engaged in "Island Hopping" campaigns against the Japanese . For example , Guadacanal , Tarawa , Peleliu , Iwo Jima and Okinawa .
it was hitler no it wasnt it was hiroshima mamiya
Guadacanal , Iwo Jima and Okinawa were three of many Pacific islands that the US invaded during WW2 .
Iwakuni =(Train)=> Hiroshima =(Airplane)=> Naha(Okinawa) =(rent a car)=>Gonowan About 7.5hours, 35000Yen(US$388) for one way
This would be my list:1. Pearl Harbor.2. The Fall of Singapore.3. The Guadalcanal Campaign.4. The Battle of Midway.5. The Invasion of Okinawa.6. The Atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
One side of the island is on the East China Sea.
Iwo Jima and Okinawa - the closer to Japan the Allies came the stronger the resistance . (The US had difficult times at Guadacanal , Tarawa and Peleliu.)

By capturing the German city of Berlin and dropping two Nuclear bombs on Japan (Okinawa and Nagasaki).
U.S. LEADERS WERE ABLE TO SEE THE TREMENDOUS LOSS OF AMERICAN SOLDIERS THAT THE TAKING OF ONE SMALL FORTIFIED ISLAND INCURRED. THE TAKING OF THE JAPANESE MAINLAND WOULD BE EVEN MORE FORTIFIED AND AMERICAN LOSS WOULD BE EXPONENTIAL. THUS THE NEED TO TRY TO END THE WAR AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE TO SAVE UNTOLD AMERICAN LIVES. THE BOMBS ON HIROSHIMA AND NAGASKI DID JUST THAT. BROUGHT THE WAR TO A HALT.
In response to the japanese attack on pearl harbour which cost usa hundreds of lives and ships. The 2 cities are bombed on aug 8 , 1942. Truman chose the bombs rather than risk millions of American lives in an invasion of the Japanese mainland, following the extremely high causalities on Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
There are quite a few zoos in Japan. The cities that have them include Tokyo, Okinawa, Okayama, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Akita, Chiba, Wakayama, and Toyama.
