The mainland of India extends between latitudes 8*4'(Kanyakumari)and36*6'N(Kashmir).The latitudinal extend influences the duration of day and night as one moves from south to North.Hence the difference between the duration of day and night hardly felt in Kanyakumari but not so in Kashmir.

As Kanyakumari lies close to the equator, the sun rays are felt more whereas Kashmir lies above the tropic of cancer, therefore sun rays are felt slanting towards the north of equator so the difference is felt more in kanyakumari than kashmir.
