A recall was issued in April 2009 regarding the brake stop lamp switch, this could possibly be the cause of your burn out. Because one of the effects is your brake lamp not turning itself off when you release the brakes, therefore a constant burning lamp will not last as long.
Recall Date: APR 15, 2009
Model Affected:2007 Hyundai Sonata
Summary: Hyundai IS RECALLING 531,894 MY 2006-2007 ACCENT, ENTOURAGE, SONATA, MY 2007 AZERA, ELANTRA AND SANTA FE, MY 2005-2007 TUCSON AND MY 2007-2008 VERACRUZ VEHICLES. THE STOP LAMP SWITCH IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY MALFUNCTION. A MALFUNCTIONING STOP LAMP SWITCH MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED OR MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED. A STOP LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTION MAY AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE BRAKE-TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK FEATURE SO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK POSITION. IT MAY ALSO CAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, AND IT MAY NOT DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.
Consequence: THESE MALFUNCTIONS MY LEAD TO A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STOP LAMP SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-633-5151.

Brake lights are on continuously while you are driving. Every time the brake pedal is depressed.
Often these are accessed thru the trunk; have you tried that?
Timing chains are designed to last the life of the engine.
Often this type of behavior is caused by a bad ground for the lighting circuit. Check the ground circuit for the brake lights.
They used to be incandescent, but more and more often now manufacturers are using LEDs.
Brake lights often use a dual-filament bulb. If this gets inserted the wrong way other functions can suffer.
more often than not there are three brake lights. one at eye level on the rear windscreen and one either side of the hatch/boot. Hope this helps
Did you replace the fuse? have you checked the circuit board well the lights go on cause they tend to short out often

Check all the fuses and replace all of the blown fuses. If you still have no brake lights check your brake light switch. The brake light circuit also runs through a red cylindrical shaped relay called the "failure sensor" which lights and indicator bulb in the intrument cluster if a brake light bulb or some other bulb has failed. Internal failure in this part will often have the symptom "No brake lights".
