This was not the man's name. This is in reality an expletive use of Jesus' name, said for the same reasons that a person would use any kind of expletive. The H stands for nothing, or if it does, it has nothing whatever to do with Jesus' name. Christ is a title meaning 'anointed', and not a family name. His name would have sounded more like "Yeshua" (from which we also get the name Joshua) and he would have been referred to as Yeshua bar Yusef (sp?) meaning Yeshua son of Joseph.

Another theory is that it is an abbreviation for Jesus Holy Christ, a blasphemy in the South, perhaps abridged to "H" by Northerners who talk faster. Other Southern epithets that abbreviate the same way are "Jesus Hebe Christ" and "Jesus Hebrew Christ".

Christ means anointed in greek. In the past the kings of Israel were anointed with olive oil when they were announced as kings. Jesus is the Christ because he is the King of Kings that God annointed with his Holy Spirit and who will come again to rule over the nations.

The word christ is translated from the Greek word christos which means 'annointed' the Hebrew equivalent is 'messiah'. Read John chapter 1 verse 41

Joh 1:41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated, the Christ).

Jesus is called Lord cause Jesus is a part of the trinity. The trinity is God the father, God the son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. God the father made everything. God the son came to the world to save the world of their sins. God the Holy Spirit is the Jesus living inside a person after he/she became a Christian. Keep in mind the trinity is the same person, God.

Another answer

Because as followers as Christ, we take him as our savior and as our God, which is where Lord our God comes in.

The question can only be answered if you think that all Christian sects think the same.

  • Trinitarian Christians believe in a creator god and two avatars the Son (Jesus) and The "Holy Spirit". However some Trinitarian groups deny the divinity of the Jesus Christ.
  • Unitarian Christian believe in a single godhead with no divisions, no Jesus faith or position.

When the angel visited Mary with the news she would give birth to the Messiah the name was already picked out. Jesus got that name from God, Himself.
