The holy land is Jerusalem and it is sacred because this is where Jesus died and was ressurected. also it has the weeping wall in Israel and lots of other religious thingimabobs. Do you know why Jews and Muslims fight over the Holy Land. I'm in an RS lesson and i dont know the answer :( :) i hope i helped.
Jesus was Jewish
For Jews it is the city King David made the capital of his kingdom, and where the Temple stood, containing the Ark of the Covenant.
For Christians, it is where Christ died, was buried and rose again, and the birthplace of the Church. The Jewish and Christian Bibles mention Jerusalem several hundred times.
For Muslims, Jerusalem is referred to as "al-Quds" ("the Holy"), because they believe Muhammad ascended to heaven from the Temple Mount during his Night Journey.
To the Jews, Jerusalem is holy because that is where their temple was that last housed the Arc of the Covenant.
To the Christians Jerusalem is holy because that is where Christ (who was a Jew) last preached, died and was resurrected.
The idea that Israel is 'the Holy Land", held by the Jewish people by Divine promise and command, is especially alive amongst conservative US Christians since the second half of the 19th century. Other Christians from the 12th century onwards largely lost interest in the whole area. Although the teachings of Jesus of course are the main inspiration for today's Christians everywhere, the Old Testamental promises by God to the Jews and the fact that Jesus was born and lived in present-day Israel do not make the country itself especially 'holy' or sacred to them. But for many Christians in the USA it does.
Because all three of those religions originated from this land area.
