Many jobs (not just babysitters) get paid by the hour because the more hours you work, the most labour you have to use, and therefore the more you should be paid.

Babysitters also get paid based on how many children they're caring for because babysitting many children requires more work, energy, and supervision than just babysitting one or two children.
