Yes, bearded dragons can absolutely take baths. In fact, a bath every week can aid in the lizard's shedding, hydration, and can be fun for both you and your pet. Make sure that the water is just a little warm to the touch, not hot, and that the water level doesn't go over your lizard's chest, and you'll be good to go!

^^^ NO ! Bearded Dragons are a DESERT species ! they rarely - if ever come across enough water to bathe in ! Almost all the moisture a Beardie needs is obtained from its food ! (Snakester1962)

Probably because they're upset at being plunged into water !

Bearded Dragons are a DESERT species ! They would NEVER 'bath' themselves in the wild. The ONLY contact with water they need - is for an occasional drink !

It shouldn't be. The only thing I can think of is that maybe it's basking temperature is not optimal for digestion (it should be over 100F) and it can smell the undigested insects and eats it again. Take a small thermometer and place at the highest spot in the vivarium for at least 5 minutes to accurately gauge temps. Another guess may be that he/she needs to eat more (Adults should get greens daily and 12-15 crickets every other day, or at least 40-50 a week, spaced out. or another blend of staple protein like superworms or mealworms, these should be limited though). Adults should get 75% greens and veggies 25% protein. Also make sure you are dusting your crickets with repti-cal (or another calcium supplement) at least 3 times a week and repti-vit (or other vitamin) at least twice weekly. A baby or juvenile need to be feed much more often and babies need pinhead crickets 3-4 times a day 90% protein 10% green, Juvies twice daily on the crickets about 75 protein 25 lettuce. Baby beardeds eat EVERYTHING! If yours is a baby, just make sure you really stay on top of cleaning out its tank, if not and everything listed above is being done, then you may want to consider a vet appointment to make sure everything is okay. It could just be that you really have to stay on top of cleaning it, BD will try to eat everything, mine constantly attacks blinking lights, toes, anything seems palatable to him!

Should you get a bearded dragon or a tortoise?

i own both, they are the only reptiles i own, but i would have too say it depends on what you want. bearded dragons eat allot( about 6locusts a day) you bath them at least once a week they need allot of social time with you, and get scared easily, puffing out it bearded that will go black when scared. but they get too know you, you bond with them, and they get too love you, they also are awake at day (leopard gecko's are nocturnal) so you can watch them during the day rather than watching a sleeping gecko they need the vets allot more than gecko's Leopards gecko's eat about 1-2 locusts a day never need a bath but you can give them one. (bearded dragons need a bath as they do not drink out of a bowl, and a bath encourages them too drink) hardly ever need the vets can be left weeks without being handled and still be friendly, never get scared, never bite. do not bond with you, do not really care about you or who is feeding them. RE:actually bearded dragons CAN drink out of a bowl but they have to get inside the bowl to drink it so it has to be BIG

Why is a bearded dragon mean?

When a bearded dragon gets scared, a pouch near the throat inflates and darkens, so as to intimidate the foe. They also look like small dragons. Also the beardie is showing off. My beardie looks at himself while he is sunbathing and just blows out his beard to show how strong or good he looks. He loves me to talk to him when he does it. He is so funny !
