There isn't a sure way to stop a cat from urinating unless you know why your cat is doing it. Some of the reasons can be:

  1. If the cat has gone into heat, or, if male, as reached sexual maturity and has started as spray.
  2. A urinary tract infection.
  3. Litter tray is dirty.
  4. Litter tray is in the wrong location.
  5. The cat is stressed.
  6. You have changed the tray or litter suddenly and the cat does not like it

There are many things you can try to resolve the issue of your cat urinating in undesirable spots:

  1. Spay or neuter the cat, or contain the cat in one room until the heat has passed if you have a female cat. A male cat will never stop spraying until it is neutered.
  2. If you suspect your cat has a urinary infection, then the cat should be taken to the vet as soon as possible. You will most likely need to re-train your cat into using the litter tray (buying a completely new tray may be the best option as the cat will not associate pain with the new tray).
  3. Be sure to remove any faeces daily and completely replace the litter at least once a week or as often as needed.
  4. Cats prefer quiet and secluded places to go to the bathroom. A cat will refuse to use a tray if its located in a busy or loud area.
  5. Remove the stress factor. Never punish a cat for urinating in the wrong place as this will worsen the issue. Praise the cat for using its tray instead.
  6. Some cats are finicky and will prefer a type of litter over another. If they do not like the new litter, they will no use the tray and go elsewhere. Switch back to the previous litter.

If you do not know for sure, or you suspect your cat has a urinary infection, then the cat should be taken to the vet as soon as possible.

Once your cat has peed somewhere it becomes their teritory. You need to clean the area with something that will keep the cat away and then take it outside to pee in a place that will then be its teritory. It should then minimise or all together stop the peeing. I am sorry if this is a bad explanation but i am only 12!

The #1 reason is that the litter box resembles a gas station washroom. We need a big, deep box so it's easy to clean... and then our cat finds a clean spot when they need it!

The #2 reason is that the cat has an infection and they are sending up a big red flare of distress. If it's a Urinary Tract Infection, it's easily cleared up with a course of antibiotics, and then the cat won't associate their litter box with pain and distress.

The #3 reason is that we've used some harsh method to scare the cat in a pointless attempt to make them stop doing whatever it is. But the cat doesn't understand that is what we are trying to do, and now we've increased their stress, and they are trying very hard to "mark their territory." Use Positive Discipline instead.

A kitten may urinate on a new carpet to mark it's territory. If the cat is trained to use a litter box, it shouldn't need to 'go' on a carpet. Sometimes new furniture and new people scares or makes cats curious.

Cats pee on cars, and other objects, to mark their territory. An unnuetered male cat will do this more often, as their natural instincts tell them to. Neutered cats will do this, but much less.

This is very uncommon; generally cats will pee on inanimate objects that they want to mark as boundaries of their territory. A cat peeing on people likely has something wrong with it mentally; this sort of psychosis is more common with cats who have been declawed, as they have lost some control over their environment and that is one way of attempting to reclaim it.

This is most likely an issue of territorial insecurity. If you moved, added new pets, or there are lots of stray cats outside a cat may feel rubbing on the furniture is not enough to mark it as his territory and will use the "big guns" to put more scent on the furniture to mark it as his territory. The "big guns" usually means urine and in real bad cases of territorial insecurity even feces.

Why do cats get killed by cars?

Cars get killed by cars because cats walk where cars drive. Cats get killed by cars because the drivers of the cars are careless and don't really care whether they kill a cat or not. Last reason I think why cats get killed by cars is because cars are bigger and stronger then cats so therefore the cats lose in that battle.
