Well i have read in a book that they were drawn sideways because in their afterlife, it was believed in order to have all body parts with you, it must have been painted sideways so you could see every body part. That's why they also have legs and hands sticking out like that. Like a Pharaoh's would be painted like that, but you might be wondering then why didn't they just face the person forward? The Egyptians also thought if their whole face would be drawn, the whole face would express too much power. It would be too human, so they decided that was the best way to draw them. They had really weird beliefs not 100 sure on this, but I'm pretty sure that's why.
There are a couple of ways to draw a donkey's face sideways. One way is to draw it normal and turn it sideways.

When drawing or painting, the Egyptians had to be quick for most of the time they drew into the drying walls or tombs, temples, or homes. They drew people with their bodies facing forward but their head sideways simply because it was easier and more convenient.

The Egyptians painted people sideways because the Egyptians believe that if you painted someone looking at you, it would steal your soul. They also believed to draw all the arms and legs, because when that person died, the person they drew correctly, would get to have all their body parts in heaven, after they died.
Egyptian pharaohs are people that ruled Egyptian people like presidents.
Egyptian's believed that if they showed their entire bodies in a picture, someone in the duat would copy their image and make clones. If you want more information on Egypt in a non boring way, I recommend reading The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan.
First draw 2 small ovals for the eyes. Then draw an even smaller C for the nose. For the mouth draw a sideways D or a ). Fore the head draw a large oval. For the pupils of the eyes draw a small oval in each eye and color it in. That's basically how you draw a cartoon face. For more details you ca message me >.<
