∙ 12y agoEyes are naturally red due to the blood vessels inside, however most animals have a pigmented iris. Hamsters generally have eyes that appear black, they are in fact a dark brown, and this may appear red in the light.
Albino hamsters lack body pigments, so their eyes will be the default pink/red.

∙ 15y agosurprisingly this is a mixture of two chemicals - dimethyle-propane and dihydrogen monoxide that are constantly reacting to give a red appearance. This allows the hamster to see in the dark, but can sometimes be very hot if you put your fingers too near their eyes as stress causes the reaction to increase so watch out!
