Mosquitoes seem to prefer certain people over others. I've seen it many times. You probably know someone who says "Mosquitos love me!" What's up with this?

My wife and I will be outside on a summer evening and she'll get eaten alive, while I'm standing there without a single bite. What's going on? She is Filipino and I am of germanic descent. Does that have anything to do with it? I think some person,s having suger level higher have sweet blood, which attracts mosquetoes more than a person having lower suger level and have tasteless blood.

Mosquitos do not bite. They land on your skin, or sometimes on a garment covering the skin, and they stick their needle-like mouth into your skin until they find blood, then they suck up a tiny amount through their needle-like mouth.

Normally, the blood that they suck in (to eat) would clot inside them and kill them, but it turns out that they also use their mouth to deposit a chemical that prevents your blood from clotting as they suck it in. This chemical is mostly responsible for the swelling and itching.

Mosquitos can live on juicy plants, sucking up their juice in the same way as blood, but they cannot mate and lay eggs until they find blood to eat. Animals can supply blood for mosquitos, too.

Bumps and itchiness from mosquito bites is due to an allergy. So, mosquitos bite people the same amount but only some people's skin react to the bites.

Because mosquitoes feed off of blood and they have the intellegence to know that humans have blood so that's why they bite people.

Which country mosquito are not live?

probably a cold country because when it is hot, mosquitos are all around, and they CAN ruin your summer. it's summer right now august 31,2011 at 6:27 pm and i just killed two mosquitos that tried to bite me. i hate them. my family is from Guyana and it is really hot there and FULL of mosquitos. you have a net over your bed to keep away the mosquitos from biting you when you sleep. i went to guyana before. so yeah mosquitos are mostly near hot places and near water like a pond or swamp or something. be careful. make sure you put on mosquito spray, i got like tons of those when i went to guyana haha. --melissa
