Over the centuries and ubder various civilizations it has been corrupted by various interpretors.
true Hinduism does not teach re-birth as we imagine nor 'karma' as we imagine.
It propagates;
the life form is composed of the mind, life-force and the body. Th life-force of the fetus is from the fertilized ovum (parents); the body from the food and elements taken from the mother; and the mind by the brain-washing by the family, society, teachers, leaders etc.
When the life form/the being dies, the body goes back to the elements(ash,soil etc); the mind having influenced the environment merges with the communal mind and the life force via the egg/ovum/sperm/seed to another life.
The Hindu belief is that - like drops of water merging to become a river and the merging into the ocean and losing its(the drop's) identity - the body goes back to the elements, the mind into the environment and the life into the future generations.
The mind is said to be the thoughts, habits, conditioning, fantasies, imaginations etc. of the form.
