The three main physical features of South Dakota are the Prairie Hills in Eastern South Dakota, the Black Hills in Western South Dakota, and the Badlands in South-Western South Dakota. The Prairie Hills influence people to live in South Dakota because they provide good farmland and opportunities for recreation such as boating, fishing, swimming, biking, hiking, etc. The Badlands and the Black Hills also offer opportunities for recreation along with tourism related businesses. Much of western South Dakota is good ranch land.
