Not all do as the original 'Christianity' that Jesus and the Apostles observed had the Sabbath - day of rest from Genesis 1 and the Fourth Command of God to remember the Creation and the Creator of all things seen and unseen. Many fundamentalist Christians still observe the 7th day Sabbath rest from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday.

It was during the Nicean Council of 325 AD, that the Roman Emperor, Constantine, changed this day of rest to Sunday primarily to make his new religion different from the 'Christian Jews' along with other Christians who were pagans before repentance and baptism and to appease his Officer Corp who worshipped Mithra - on Sunday or the day of the invincible sun or Dies Natalis Solis Invicti.

Christians pray to God every day, as it's a part of our relationship with Him.

The Sabbath day (which these days Christians generally have as Sunday) is not a day of God's rest, but ours:

"Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work. It is a Sabbath to the LORD in all your dwelling places." (Lev 23:3)

The phrase 'holy convocation' could be translated as something like 'gathering that is set apart for God'. So to gather as a church, share time together, worship God and pray is something natural to do on a day set apart specifically for resting in God.

The creation account does not say that God rests every seventh day, but that god rested on the seventh day (see Genesis 2:2). Interpretation of the word 'day' there varies.

In the Old Testament of The Bible in the section Genesis it shares that God rested on the seventh day. It shares that for six days God created the world and saw that it was good. Then on the seventh day God rested. Humanity, the physical expression of God and we need a day of rest to restore our energy. In modern terms the phrase "we must have some rest or we will burn out" applies the same meaning. In ultra modern times, the age of communication, the equivalent of rest is putting a cell phone on a charger. The only way we can keep talking on a cell phone is when it is fully charged. Thus every human being must get some rest to be able to function at peak capacity. TO view it as charging a cell phone alleviates some of the "guilt" people have for resting, as if that is "not being productive." In actuality, resting is one of the most productive things we can do, because it enables us to do even more.

AnswerChristians believe that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day from his crucifixion, the Sunday. From at least the second century, Christians gathered informally on Sundays for worship.

Emperor Constantine cleverly reconciled the concerns of the followers of the sun god with those of the emerging Christian faith, by proclaiming that there should be solemn observance on Sundays.

AnswerALSO IT HAS BEEN PROPHESIED THAT "He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and TRY TO CHANGE THE SET TIMES AND LAWS. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time." Daniel 7:25

Satan speaks against God and it is his work that the Sabbath day (God's Law) was changed. Please do not be fooled and follow him.

Answer

To understand the answer to this Question terms must first be explained.

Some Christians celebrate Sunday as the "Sunday Sabbath" or "Christian Sabbath", but this can be wrong.

The "Sabbath" is actually the weekly Jewish day of rest celebrated on the 7th and last day of the week as commanded by God after He created everything else on the first 6 days of the week.

Exodus 20

11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.

In contrast to the Jewish Sabbath on the 7th day of the week, or Saturday, Christ was not resurrected until the first day of the week, or Sunday:- ,,

Mark 16

9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

Traditionally it has always been taught that Christ must have died on a Friday because He was buried on "the Sabbath" and there was only one Sabbath and therefore that day was Friday. However, the the post-First Century Church soon became very anti-semitic, and so had no idea of Jewish Holy Days, High Days, Preparation Days, and holidays. They didn't know Christ was prophesied to be dead and buried , not for a day-and-a-bit between late Friday evening and early Sunday morning, but for for 3 whole 24-hr days - 72 hours in total:-

Jonah 1

17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Matthew 12

38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

This meant they didn't know that

  • there were periodically more that one Sabbath a week,
  • that Christ was literally sacrificed as our Passover Lamb on the Day of Preparation
  • that occurred the day before Passover,
  • that Passovers were celebrated as special Sabbaths or Annual Sabbaths or High Days and they were not necessarily the same,
  • that He was crucified on the Wednesday
  • which was the Preparation Day for the First Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the next day {Thursday)
  • that Thursday was celebrated as a High Sabbath
  • and Thursday was also a Passover, and
  • that the next day (Friday) was an ordinary day,
However, they did know that the next day was the weekly Saturday Sabbath , and that Christ was resurrected on Sunday the following day.

In short,

the Sabbath is on the 7th day of the week and looks back as a memorial to Creation, while Sunday is on the 1st day of the week and looks both back and forwards.

Looking Backwards Sunday is a memorial both of God for the Creation of the original Heaven and the Earth and also of Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead because they were both on the 1st Day of the Week, but looking forwards it is a weekly reminder each Sunday of every Christian's rebirth and Christ's promised future Return and Re -Creation of the original Heaven and the Earth . This also means that it is most likely that Christ will also return on a Sunday.

The sabbath should be celebrated on Saturday, the seventh day of the week. It was changed in the Roman Empire to make Christianity more compatible with an existing religion. Note: Altered by Roman emperor Constantine
