Names of the countries are usually defined in your language when somebody from your country visits them. It varies according to how they call their land too. The origin of the word "turkey" as connotes fowl is entirely distinct from the origin of "Turkey" as connotes the country. The two only appear the same. This is the same as many words such as "leaves" as refers to departing and "leaves" as refers to the green things coating a plant.
