Because mens football is more established than womens football. Womens football is not as big in England as it is in America and unfortunately it probably never will be

Soccer players get injured much more than basketball players.

User Avatar

That is true in a way. In the US basketball is more popular than soccer. That is why basketball players are paid more. In other countries, soccer is more popular so soccer players get paid more. Soccer in the US is becoming increasingly popular. Soon soccer players could be paid as much as basketball players.

Since soccer is more popular there, the players will usually make more. It is estimated that players in New York $7 million so those in New Zealand make about the same if not more.

It really does depend on the players calibare. The better you are as a player and the more known you are to the public the more you earn.

User Avatar

There has been no official count, but there are millions of serious players across the world, including junior tournament players, coaches, pros, former pros, club players, etc. If you are talking about professional players, there are more than 2500 professional players, men and women.

Depends on how much you play, but usually soccer players BY FAR. (:

Yes soccer players get paid more than basketball player. The reason for this is that Basketball is mostly funded by the US. Soccer is funded by many countries. So soccer is the higher paid sport.

User Avatar

it depends on how good the player is.

Probably more soccer players. But it is hardly fair to limit only one side to just one country. America has only 300 million of the over 6 billion people in the world. I would bet that there are more American football players than Tunisian soccer players.

It was in England that professional soccer was made legal, and teams began forming (or were already formed and turned pro). The year was 1885 and the month was July. Association football was an amateur sport for some time. But some football (soccer) teams had begun hiring players with exceptional skills, and there was strong debate over the "pay for play" approach. The desire to have professional players and clubs was a business decision, and it was agreed at a conference that players could be paid and could play legally. Soccer is played there like it is played almost everywhere....on the streets or places you can find spots near your house to play. This is largely why poorer countries dominate creation of soccer players...and then they learn more about organization from professional developmental programs.
