It's because Pluto is so far away that the space shuttle NASA sent out to take close up pictures, still isn't there and it's still got a long way to go (probubly neer Saturn by now).

Because it is so far from Earth and that it is forgotten. It is also smaller than our moon so dont worry one day we will make an encyclopedia about Pluto.

Pluto is the only planet that has not been visited by a space probe. It is also small, dark and far away. Voyager visited all the outer planets during its "Grand tour" of the solar system except Pluto which does not orbit the Sun in the same plane as the other planets.

The New Horizons space probe is on its way to Pluto. It was launched in 2006 and will fly by Pluto on July 14 2015. Then we should know more about Pluto.

The mass and density of Pluto were unknown until Charon was found because Pluto is too distant and has no gravitational influence on the other planets, such as Neptune. Charon is the largest of Pluto's moons.
