Sound can travel through fire as it does not directly affect sound. Sound travels in waves which can pass through solid objects but this limits the distance they can go.
The best tool to extinguish a small gasoline or diesel fire is a portable fire extinguisher. If the fire is small and you have a portable extinguisher, you should attempt to extinguish the fire.If you cannot extinguish the fire and it continues to get larger, get away from the vehicle. There may be toxic fumes and the possibility of an explosion.Never apply water to a gasoline or diesel fire.
Do not use butter to put out a fire, any fire, ever. Butter will add fuel to any fire. If you are near butter, you should be near salt. Salt will put out a small fire.
Then it wouldn't be a smoke detector, but there are fire alarms that are triggered by temperature.

What unusual sound do they hear in the fire?
Yes!
No you retard
when a car, train or bus passes you and the sound is loud, this is when the waves are compressed meaning the object is moving towards you(blueshift), whilst when it moves away the sound dies down and the wavelength length increases meaning the object is movign away (redshift) Some examples of Doppler effect are train whistles, police and fire sirens, race car engines etc.
