Another possible suggestion came from Joe Staton of the Museum of Comparative zoology. He explained that amphibians, reptiles, and certain birds taste more like chicken due to a similar โ€œevolutionary origin.โ€

because after cooking some meats appear white and appear chicken like. it is a subconscious reaction. so snake or gator don't taste like chicken. people just rather believe that.
