Pork is not considered to be a meat good to eat more than a couple of times a week. Limiting pork in a diet can result in overall better health. Some cultures and religions do not eat pork because it is considered an unclean meat.
Pork is the meat of a pig, like ham, bacon, MOST sausage, pork chops, etc. Shrimp is seafood- they live in the ocean. From a RELIGIOUS dietary viewpoint, shrimp may be considered unclean and prohibited by some religions- but it is not pork. It is not Kosher, but IS considered Halal.
In some religious traditions perhaps. This would be understood as "ritually unclean" and not in any way related to sin. For example, if a man touches blood, even his own, he may be "ritually unclean" until he performs some ritual or until enough time passes. Completely outside of religious contexts, I don't think there is any sense in which uncleanness automatically follows childbirth. It is also entirely unclear how this concept of uncleanness can have any meaning today, even in the context of religion.
Jewish perspectivePork is not unclean. It is unkosher. There is a difference. In the Torah, we are told what animals are and are not fit for eating. Pigs are just one of countless animals that are considered to not be fit for eating. The actual rule for mammals is that they have to both chew their cud and have split hooves.
As with any race of people, if someone doesn't eat pork, it is just their personal preference. Just as in the Jewish faith where the pig is seen as unclean or not Kosher, some non-Jews of all races have also adopted that philosophy.
Some Traditions Are Celebrating Things Btw i think dont be coming at me saying i got it wrong
Bacon, ham, pork roast, pork chops and so forth are obviously pork. But there are also some hot dogs, some sausages, and some canned meat products. And some baked goods use lard which is pork fat. Check the food label for contents.
Some Christians or bible believers, believe that Torah (old law) is still to be followed this day in age, whereas most believers believe that Torah was fulfilled with Christ's death and resurrection. It sounds to me like they follow Torah which prohibits eating pork. Its all in how you read the bible and where your convictions are.
Well, they can eat pork. Nothing bad happens to them if they do. You probably mean "Why are they not allowed or supposed to eat pork" As far as I know there is no strict rule that fobids Buddhists to eat pork or meat. Some just don´t like to eat meat because they don´t want to hurt animals. Muslim religion , however, has a strict rule against eating pork. Pigs are considered unclean.
