The reason why earthquakes sometimes cause tsunamis is because when the epicenter is close to the ocean or in the ocean, the plates that have moved send a shock wave (otherwise known as the earthquake) that then makes waves somewhat like if you dropped a pebble in a puddle it makes a ripple effect.

There are two main hazards at plate boundaries: volcanoes and earthquakes. At plate boundaries plates either converge, diverge, or slide past each other. As this occurs the plates snag, building up tension which, when released, triggers earthquakes. At convergent boundaries these earthquakes can trigger tsunamis.

Where plates diverge and converge rocks in the upper mantle melt. The melt the rises tot he surface, forming volcanoes. Other than these events plate boundaries do not really cause any natural disasters, however, some boundaries occur at the boundaries of continents, which in turn can create a vulnerability to maritime hazards such as tropical cyclones (hurricanes and typhoons).

They occur for different reasons. In simple terms, tornadoes arise from intense, rotating thunderstorms called supercells. In some cases the rotation within the storm can tighten and intensify into the violent vortex of a tornado. Hurricanes occur as clusters of thunderstors are fueled by moisture from warm ocean water, causing them to intensify. The clusters organize and being to rotate as a consequence of Earth's spin.

Earthquakes occurs as a result of stress that builds up between tectonic plates, huge slabs of rock that make up Earth's crust, as they slowly move past each other, collide, or pull apart.

Can their be tornadoes hurricanes and earthquakes at the same time?

Yes, but the chances of such an occurrence are extremely low. Hurricanes often produce tornadoes, but more often in their outer regions beyond the area of hurricane conditions (sustained winds of at least 74 mph). Hurricanes and tornadoes are not related to earthquakes in any way known to science. Many area that are prone to large earthquakes to not typically see hurricanes or tornadoes very often.
