what type of engine do you have?? V6
On the 2.8L V6 the distributor cap is held on with two screws. Unscrew the two screws and pull straight up on the distributor cap to remove it from the distributor.
I found one source that says a 1986 Chevy Celebrity has a curb weight of 2714 pounds. Different options would change that weight.
A couple of possible reasons why your headlights don't light up: 1. Both headlights are burned out. 2. The headlight switch has gone bad. 3. There is a wiring problem.
The last year the Chevrolet Celebrity was produced was 1990, not 1992. And although there were some minor changes, the car was largely unchanged between 1986 and 1990. The standard I-4 engine is exactly the same, as well as the frame and body. I believe the headlight arrangements may have changed, as well as some of the dash detailing and the standard radio, but overall the car is largely the same.
The fuse box is on the bottom of the dash on the right side of the steering column.
The firing order for all years of Chevrolet Celebrity V6's is: 1-2-3-4- 5-6
To change the front blinker bulb on your 1986 Chevy Celebrity simply reach up behind the bumper and unplug the socket from the fixture. Replace the bulb in the socket and plug the socket back into the fixture.
Replace the header panel with one from a 1987 to 1990 header panel. You can then make adaptors to use the later model bulbs in place of the older sealed beam bulbs. We actually did that on a 1986 station wagon. It was easily enough done.
