because of the gravitational pull of the moon

it pulls the tide up or push it down

---

Not just the moon. The moon along with the sun and the earth's gravitational pull itself.

---

no its only the moon!

the moons gravitational pull causes the tides. high tide and low tide. Also each tide occurs twice each day

---

the moon pulls the water part of the earth

---

if you saw dispicable me then they took the moon away and the surfer fell, so it's just the moon. (even though its a movie)

Tides are caused by the Gravity of the Sun, Earth, and Moon in certain positions.

---

I'm going to clear this all up: The tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon AND Sun. It says so in my textbook.

Tides are caused by "tidal forces" (named so after the tides) from the Moon. The "tidal forces" refer to the fact that one side of Earth - the side that is closest to the moon - is attracted stronger by the moon than the opposite side.

This has all got to do with gravitation.

The Moon circle the earth and provide this gravitational pull.

When other planets line up with the moon, this creates a larger pull and we get higher tide than normal.

The moon spend approx 24 days in order to go one time around earth. Why do we so get 2 tides every 24 hours?

This again is due to the earth spinning around its own axis. The earth spins around its own axis ONE full time every 24 hours.

The moon also perform a pull on the earth itself, shifting it sligtly. this mean that the waterlevel on opposite side of the moon will rise as well.

Regards.

As the moon revolves around the earth, it exerts a pull on the planet - including the oceans. This raises the level of water directly between the two bodies - and water elsewhere on the planet diminishes to form low tides.
