This is called "condensation" on a glass, and "dew" if it occurs on grass / leaves. When the "dew point" of air is above the temperature of the surface of the glass, condensation will occur as humidity from the air releases heat into the glass and changes state from gas to liquid.

Water vapor is always present in the air in varying amounts. When this water vapor comes in contact with the cold surface of the glass it cools and condenses.

The cold water chills the glass so the warm water vapour in the air, condenses on the cooler surface of the glass, hence the water droplets are formed.

Would droplets of water form on the outside of a glass cup?

yes.

How can water droplets form without rain?

Fog and dew also consist of water droplets. You will also notice water condensing on the outside of a glass of a cold beverage.

Why would droplets of water form on the outside of the glass?

The effect is called Condensation You can look this up easily.

Why a glass of ice water often has water droplets which form on the outside while a hot cup of tea or soup does not?

the main reason is condensation of water vapour in the air to water droplets

Why does the outside of a glass of iced tea some times get moist?

The cold glass cools the air surrounding the glass. This in turn condenses water vapor in the air such that little water droplets form around the surface of the glass. These droplets are what you recognize as being moist :)

What is the name of the process that causes the droplets to form to the outside of the glass?

Condensation

Why do droplets of water form on the outside of a glass cup?

this is called condensation in the water cycle it forms water droplet because when the liquid turns into gas the particles move and when they spread apart and float away some get stuck on the sides of the glass cup. Then with enough of the gas particles come together turning it into droplets and goes back into water to do it all over again.

How can the formation of water droplets on the outside of a cold glass on a hot day serve as a model for cloud formation?

As the moist air rises, water vapor condenses and clouds form. Clouds are made of tiny droplets of liquid water or ice.

Why didn't the same thing happen to the glass filled with warm water?

Water droplets form when the water vapor cools. The cooling causes it to condense into water. A warm glass does not cause cooling or condensation, so no water droplets.
