We DO NOT have a bank holiday for whit ! Whitsun is a Christian festival otherwise known as Pentecost which ALWAYS falls 7 weeks after Easter and therefore varies each year. In 2010 Whit Sunday is on 23rd. May; in 2011 it will fall on Sunday 12th. June. Since 1967,in the UK, but not in the rest of Europe, the Whit Monday holiday has been replaced by Spring Bank Holiday which usually falls on the LAST Monday in May and has no religious significance. Many people still wrongly refer to this as "Whit" - thus causing confusion.
