There are a number of reasons.
1. Despite the claims made by pro-whaling countries, videos of whaling show that it is often not a quick death. In some cases the whale is hung upside down (fighting to escape, to breath), with it's head & blow hole (breathing hole) below the water until it suffocates.
2. The rate at which whales reproduce is slow, and the rate at which they can be hunted is high. This will cause extinction.
3. Whales provide only a small input into the food chain, so the gains are out weighted by 1 & 2. (IE it's unnecessary)
4. Just because it is "traditional" is no justification. It used to be traditional in some countries to offer live human sacrifices to the Gods when launching a new ship. In others it used to be traditional to bury the wife (alive) along side her dead husband, or to include her on the funeral pyre.
While whaling was banned by the International Whaling Commission in 1986, it is legal to kill whales for scientific purposes in some countries, such as Japan.
For food, oil, and leather.
Mainly the people who whale don't care about endangered species. They just care about getting the meat and making the money.
Because whales are beautiful creatures, and do not deserve to be killed!
Yes, whalers. They're enemies are whalers because they kill whales.
they usually trap them or throw weapons such as spears at whales.
The harpooner. I say the people who kill the whales are the people who dont care about its fragile nature
Blue whales are endangered because of over one hundred years of over hunting by whalers.
because they kill all the poor whales in the whole ocean in japan and Norway
People who kill whales for their blubber, teeth,(etc.) are called Whalers.
Japanese whalers they kill them for food or something like that sea shepherd say they are violating a thing on commercial whaling but the whalers say they are killing whales for scientific research both have the law on their side and they are fighting over it and sea shepherd is trying to stop whaling.
When a whale dies and washed up on the shore, it is up to the government to decide what to do with it. At times they are cremated and sometimes the government will choose to explode them using dynamite.
Ocean Polution and Whalers
Some whales are attacked by killer whales, but the whale's main threat is whalers.
By their spouts, backs, and prints.
