leakage reactance in induction motor depends on the reluctance of the path in which the leakage flux is establishing. with the increase in stator current the leakage flux also increases but it cannot maintain linear relationship because of saturation of the leakage flux path, even though current is increasing the flux will not increase and it'll be constant after saturation. this leakage flux links with the stator winding and induces emf which will be opposite to the supply voltage causes drop in applied voltage , the drop in the applied voltage is represented with the leakage reactance. as flux is responsible for the induction of emf , the increase in current does not increase flux after saturation and therefore emf also doesnot increase so the leakage reactance is not constant throughout the machine operation...

What is the effect of increasing the length of the air gap in an induction motor?

The magnetic flux that couples the rotor to the stator will weaken significantly reducing the motor's torque.

What if supply given to 3 phase induction motor without rotor?

It'll behave like a transformer on open circuit with a huge leakage reactance due to the very large air gap resulting from there being not rotor. So it will draw a largish reactive current from the supply.

Why load angle is positive for generator and negative for motor?

simply put a motor consumes power and a generator produces it. reactance of a generator = - reactance of a motor

Does induction motor works on Electromagnetic induction?

Yes the Induction motor works on Electromagnetic induction principle.

What is induction motor?

Induction motor is an AC electric motor which uses electromagnetic induction to induce the electric current in the rotor to produce torque.

Applications of induction motor?

A single phase induction motor is mainly used in fans.It is capacitor start capacitor run induction motor. In three phase induction motor squirrel cage induction motor is mainly used in elevators, lifts, cranes.slip ring induction motor is mainly used in electrically driven ships.

What is a decripition of Nikola Tesla induction electric motor?

AC Induction Motor

What did means by the stray losses in induction motors or transformer or generator?

Stray losses refer to secondary voltage to be inappropriately distributed to transformers, induction motors and generators. Stray losses essentially mean that there is leakage that causes a weakening of the voltage being delivered to the motor.

Difference between transformer and induction motor?

1. Induction Motor has an air-gap but transformer has no air gap rather it is mutually link. 2. Induction Motor has high no-load current than transformer. 3. Induction Motor is a dynamic device. 4. Induction Motor has high power factor.
