well every living thing needs water. All creatures need water to survive. Dogs get thirsty just like you do. Also, since dogs have more energy they need water more and more. I usually give then water every morning, noon and if they are still thirsty or if they just did some running around (which they normally do) then I also give them water before I head off to bed. A clue for if they want water, they will tell you. They will beg and bug you for something. Also if they follow you into the bathroom or kitchen because they heard the water running from the sink, then that is a very good clue for if they need water.
There are hundreds of gallons of water wasted every minute. Water is wasted by leaving the faucet running, taking long showers, and flushing toilets when unnecessary.
