Why do you use charcoal in earth pits?
We use earth pits for by-passing the high voltages from the lightning rod in case of thunder strikes..
After digging earth pits, salt(na-cl) & charcoal.....salt increases conductivity, whereas charcoal decreases conductivity......so we use charcoal
Salt to dissolve in the soil moisture to serve as the conducting electrolyte. It will exhaust more rapidly in rainy season and will need replenishment. Charcoal to dissipate the heat generated (IxIxRxt calories) when the lightning current is discharged into the earth. It will eventually burn up into ash and need replenishment.
There are a lot of reasons to use charcoal grills instead of gas grills. First of all, charcoal grills are much easier to clean and use than gas grills. Secondly, they are able to use a much wider array of fuels than gas grills. You can use everything from charcoal to actual wood in a charcoal grill. This means you will not ever be stuck without fuel that you can use in your grill.
