∙ 7y agoThe legend is that they were held captive on Crete by King Minos (for whom Daedalus built the Labyrinth). To escape while Minos controlled the sea, Daedalus built wings for himself and his son Icarus. But Icarus flew too close to the Sun, melting the wax that held his wings together; he fell into the sea and drowned.
