The tower hasn’t hit the ground yet because its tapered and slightly curved shape keeps its center of gravity fairly low. That means it can tip quite a bit before toppling.

In a more poetic sense, though, the tower was falling over for a long time—albeit very slowly. Its tilt, which was first noticed shortly after construction began in 1173, kept increasing until 1990. That’s when engineers declared that, at a tilt of more than five degrees, it was in danger of collapsing. A team then figured out how to correct the lean, bringing it back to a safe angle.

Since then, it’s been getting straighter, believe it or not. The residual effects from the construction meant the angle had decreased another four centimeters by 2018.

In the end, the Leaning Tower of Pisa does not fall because its center of gravity has been carefully kept within its base. In short, this is why the Tower of Pisa does not topple over. The Leaning Tower doesn't fall because its center of gravity is carefully kept within its base.

Because of the swampland it was built on. Geologist's did not check to see how good/bad the suface of the ground was, so the Tower of Pisa was built. About 10-13 years after it had opened to the public, it began to very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very slowly sink. About 900 years later and the tilt to the Tower remains. 20 Years ago, both the United States Geological Survey, as well as geologists from all over Italy came to Pisa to see if it can be saved. After about 1 year of checking every sq. inch of the Tower as well as surrounding buildings, a solution was offered to Italy. With a series of wires, tie the opposing side to the nearest building multiple times. But, if there were no wires, the Tower would collapse in its entirety in about 10-15 thousand years. Geologist's also checked how stable the ground is there.

Because when something falls it has to till a certain amount of degrees. The Leaning Tower of Piza is still tanding because it dosen't have enough the degrees to collapse. It tilts because one of the corners sink into soft ground. As a result the tower is askew. Hope this helps

The Tower was built on Italian swampland. But so was JFK Int'l and LaGuardia Airport's in Queens County, NY. A lot of things were built on swampland. Even Wall Street is technically on a swamp. According to a map of the Earth in the 1500's, the United States area did not have enough space for Wall Street. A lot of construction was done and eventually NYC got Wall Street.

When that Tower was built, there were no geologists to study Pisa's ground and how unsteady it was at the time. About 20 years ago, the USGS and Italian geoligists, after a long survey, figured how to keep the Tower of Pisa from collapsing. It was tied with cables, and several times over, to an adjoing building. It isn't sinking or leaning anymore, but now Italy and Pisa have yet to decide if it should be uprighted and standing straight.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the freestanding bell tower to the Cathedral of the Northwest Italian town of Pisa. Construction began in the late twelfth century and was not completed until the late fourteenth century. Contributors typically want to know about the Tower's building materials and methods, cultural uses, famous visitors, funding sources, interior contents, maintenance needs, reconstructive experiences, seven bells, and special status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the end, the Leaning Tower of Pisa does not fall because its center of gravity has been carefully kept within its base. At first, it was by cleverly modifying the design (by giving the Tower a banana shape) and later, when the inclination became too much, the center of gravity has been brought back up with straightening works.

Over the years there has been several attempts to stabilise the leaning tower of Pisa's foundations. But, as it is a big tourist attraction, all attempts are to prevent the tower falling over, but without removing the lean.
