similar problemHI i have a 1988 with the exact same problem mine happened when i was changing the flywheel and put it back together shift linkage is in right has tranny fluid and i have no idea if you figure it out can you email me the answer thanks and if i figure it out I'll let you know oh my torque converter is bolted in so if you find out let me know thanks Jake.
