Why does a 1999 venture temp gauge heat up and show low coolant when you turn on the heater - have replaced thermostat - coolant sensor - flushed air out of system and pressure checked it OK.?

It sounds like your heater coil is low on coolant and drains your radiator every time you turn it on. Try letting your van warm up completely, then turn your heater on full blast and then check your radiator coolant level, if its low, that's your problem. Just keep adding until full.

If the pump is not circulating coolant insure that the thermostat is not stuck closed. If the thermostat is ok then the pump will have to be replaced.

the thermostat is a water/coolant flow regulator using pressure or heat from the water/coolant to open itself and let water circulate. when the thermostat gets stuck (won't open/close normally), the car's engine will overheat, usually will get replaced (if you go to a certified mechanic) or will be removed and not replaced (if you go to an uncertified McGiber type mechanic), although this does not affect your car in a negative way.

Why does car overheat?
There could be many reasons. Not enough coolant or bad flow, faulty thermostat, low oil. If the coolant freezes then it will overheat. If your car continues to overheat then you should have the coolant flushed and thermostat replaced.
