How does a door hinge reduce friction?

At its core, a doorknob uses the circular motion to apply pressure, via a sort of hook, against the latch of the door. This then pulls the latch inwards, allowing the door to open.

How do you replace a drivers door handle on a 2002 Chevy Express?

this is for 1998 express 3500 with hand cranked windows and manual locks, but should be the similar. Note, getting the proper tools will make this easier 1. Remove the window cranks, get tool for this 2. Pop out the plate behind the door latch handle 3. Remove the 2 screws behind the door latch handle plate 4. Remove the bumper pad on top of the door pull handle 5. Remove the little quarter panel in front of the window and Slide the door panel up to remove it. 6. In the door panel is sub panel where the door latch is, remove it from the door panel 7. Carefully pull back the plastic sheet stuck to the door 8. In the way of the door handle is the rear guide for the window, there is one screw holding it in at the bottom, remove the screw and leave the slide inside the door 9. There are two black plastic caps behind the door latch, carefully pry them out, they will give you access to the 10mm nuts holding the door handle assembly together 10. Remove the 2 10mm nuts holding the door assembly together 11. There is a back plate inside the door, the door handle itself, a rod connecting to the door latch and another to the lock cylinder. Will need to pull the back plate first, it will only come out part way. 12. Next you will pull out the door handle, the sealant will have the handle stuck to the door very tightly. You may need to carefully pry the handle off the door. 13. Underneath the lock cylinder is two holds, put a small screw driver in the first hold to release the mounting lock and side the cylinder out. 14. Finish wiggling the door handle and the back plate apart 15. Disconnect the door latch rod. Twist the door latch rod to un-thread it from the latch at the other end. Look the the connector carefully and unlatch it so it is open for re installation. Re installation is the reverse steps sort of Put the assembly together outside the door first to see how the parts go together. This will be very helpful 1. Attach the door latch rod to the door handle 2. Position the lock cylinder for installation 3. Put the door latch half way in and position the back plate and then put them together/wiggle them together, remember how they looked with you assembled them outside the door 4. Put the 2 10mm nuts on loosely 5. Slide the cylinder lock in place, push it all the way in so the holding lock engages 6. Tighten down the 2 10mm nuts on the handle 7. Put the door latch rod into the plastic latch at the bottom and close the latch 8. Re-install black caps 9. Re-install the window slide 10. Put the plastic sheet back in place 11. Install the door panel 12. Install the sub panel in the door panel and screw in place 13. Insert the plate behind the door handle 14. Install the door bumper pad 15. Install the front window quarter panel 16. Install the window crank Done.

How do you remove the door panel in a 2002 Mazda Familia?

remove screw in door handle latch and the main big handle.depends what sort of door it is, you might have to prise off the outer plastic trim of the handle.think theres more screws in the door bin.then get big screwdriver and prise the door panel off, starting at the bottom.if its holding anywhere, check for screws in that area. when its hanging off the top window strip, lift the panel upwards to free it.

What holds a door?

Typically, some sort of hinge, if you're referring to a conventional swinging door.

How do you fix a door handle on a 1986 XJSC - The lift handle is broken - In checking it seems that it is not easy to remove the panels?

Why does the security light flash all the time causing the battery to drain on 88 Nissan 300zx?

I had this problem, and it turned out to be one of the door switches that didn't completely depress when the door closed. They can be slightly adjusted or just put some sort of cap over them, or even tape so they stick out further. Another better more permanent option is to adjust the door latch so the door closes tighter. Pretty easy. If you do this - when the you have the bracket loose put a dab of glue on the bracket and the screw so they stay put - vibration slamming the door etc... All the doors have them (including the hood- though I don't know where that one is) I have 93 300ZX, but this is a pretty universal answer. If this check doesn't solve your problem - it could be you left a light on or there is an associated electrical problem. Renee

What do i do if my car hood latch won't close?

In the short run, secure the hood with duct tape, straps, or whatever you can come up with. Then either get the latch fixed, (maybe oiling it will sort it out.)or install some of those hood locks that racers use.
