A child with autism is likely to withdraw from social situations due to the nature of autism and their difficulty communicating or dealing with social situations. Or, when overstimulated and upset and unable to express it a child with autism might withdraw and appear to sulk in order to calm themself down.

It depends on the situation.

Shutdown is common in Autistic people, this is essentially a result of burnout - if the individual has been pushed too far to act neurotypical or has been overstimulated the mind will essentially shutdown and they will be unable to communicate as normal. During this time they should be treated as if having a meltdown, allowed to sit somewhere without stimulation and allowed to stim or be given a suitable aid to regain 'spoons' to recover. A child will also generally withdraw when they need to because they're over stimulated or need time to recover from social interaction, respect that they need to do that and make them aware that it's good they are able to recognise when it's needed.

Not all Autistic children prefer to be alone, however it is sometimes necessary.

Autistic people do not have the social skills of neurotypical people, in order for us to socialize and communicate with neurotypical people we must put a lot of effort into mimicking their behaviour. This is on top of the effort it takes to deal with Autism symptoms such as sensory issues and executive dysfunction, also on top of trying to hide Autistic behaviour. Thus sometimes Autistic people need time away from neurotypical people in order to relax, recharge, and be themselves.

What is adult autism?

Basicly, autism is something you are born to have, not something that you could grow into. So, adult autism, means that a child with autism grows up and become an adult with autism. However, if you didn't find out that you have autism until you are an adult, then your autism must be the mild kind on the entire autism spectrum.

Will your child get autism if exposed to toxins at 5 weeks?

No, your child cannot ever 'get' Autism as Autism is a neurological difference which they are born with - it's a result of genetics and development in the womb. Nothing your child is exposed to after birth will change your childs neurology, just like you can't give birth to a black child and have them become white by exposing them to toxins.

How long does it take for someone to develop autism?

Will your baby have autism if your girlfriends half brother has it?

It is unlikely that your child would have autism. There is a genetic component to autism, so it is more likely that you would have a child with autism than a couple with no history of autism in their backgrounds. However, it is still more likely that your child will not have autism than have autism.

Does an 8-month-old child have autism if he does not babble?

This characteristic is not enough to diagnose autism. Children with autism might babble at 8 months. Children with hearing problems might not babble at 8 months. The child might have autism if he or she has additional signs of autism and other possibilities are eliminated.

Having a child with autism is making you depressed?

You don't have a child with autism, you have an Autistic child - recognise their identity. Having an Autistic child isn't what makes you depressed, the fact you're ableist towards that child is making you depressed because you believe that child is worth less as an Autistic person.Get away from other 'Autism Moms'/'Autism Parents' and avoid organizations like Autism Speaks which see Autism as a bad thing, go talk to Autistic people and parents who are allies to their Autistic children so you get a better understanding of how to effectively care for your child and stop seeing them as some sort of burden. Your child is not to blame for your depression.
