Try unpluging ur battery and keeping it unpluged for a minute. then plug the batter back in and start the vehicle and it should clear the light if the light comes back on after a while. you probably have a wireing short or wrong wires crossed
Additionally, it may also be a bad sensor.

No. When the engine is running coolant is heated and expands. Excess coolant then flows from the radiator to the expansion (overflow) tank. When the engine is shut down coolant cools and contracts drawing fluid back out of the tank to keep the radiator topped off.

Doesn't the C5 have the full Citroen Hydraulic suspension system? If so I'd expect the power steering system to be part of that, so it isn't topped up separately but fed from the main system for which you must use the genuine Citroen mineral-based stuff or a trusted alternative, because any of the "Conventional" types will ruin your fluid.

In an emergency, no. Change the oil ASAP. If it's an emergency.... only if you have to do so. It can hurt it. Diesel oil (15w40) is different from 10w30. There are different additives, different qualities, and the viscosity is also different.
