Homophobia occurs because the people who are not straight, are not accepted. People beleive that if your not straight, your not normal, and so it leads to hatred towards them. This is why it occurs in a nutshell.

It's a way of learning about sex without running the risk of premature pregnancy.

The fact that various authorities have been trying to prohibit homosexual activity for thousands of years is evidence that it's been part of the human experience for a long time! The opposition to homosexual activity is almost always directed primarily towards male homosexuality, and is related to the misconception that there is a potential shortage of male "seed." In many societies, this "unnatural" hostility to homosexual acts has led to serious conflicts.
