answer these questions and i will answer your first question.
Answer
It could be a leaking non return valve in the fuel pump assembly, that means the fuel system looses pressure over the period of time when the car is stopped, and then takes a while to repressurise when the car is started again.
do you have to do something else besides putting gas in it to start a daewoo lanos when it runs out of gas
Start with the ashtray then the plastic border around the other instruments, this will expose all the screws.
Sounds very much like the distributor
My mom had a 4 door daewoo leganza and my sister a 2 door daewoo lanos hatchback. Those cars are a piece, and the parts are difficult if not impossible to find. Id say its time to go looking for another used car.
Yes If you know that it is broke don't attempt to start it or you cause more harm if harm isn't already caused
I've been driving one for about 18 months and you're right. Sometimes they lose power and drink fuel. Engine management software I'd image is the culprit.
Replace the HT leads to the spark plugs.
i don't know about the daewoo but most vehicles have a switch "in case of an accident" that turns off the fuel pump. find out where your switch is and make sure it is set "or reset". that should make your pump come on to start the car. may want to check your fuses or not blown also to the pump.

It could be your timing belt. If your engine light on your dashboard does not turn on when you try to start the car it will be your engine fuse in front of the passenger seat
if you mean engine fans, then a quick way to test is,if your car has air conditioner start engine and let idle turn on air conditioner and turn interior fan to high, this will,or should make your thermo or engine fan operate,if it does not you will have an electrical fault,ie fuse, fan motor ,relay,
You might check the idler pulley. My car is in the shop right now...thought it was the timing belt, but it turns out the idler pulley was the actual problem. Hope this helps.TimingI believe that's an interference engine so being off on the timing just a smidge will prevent the car from running
