If you have directional lights, tail lights, and hi - mount brake light that works but no lower brake lights, replace the multi-function switch on the steering column. Order from MONSTER Auto Parts online for about $90.00. Buy from dealer 300-400.00. Parts house 200-300. No need to replace the 4 way flasher even though they do not work. They will when you replace the MultiFunction switch.
Good luck!
Check the brake light bulbs, Check the brake light fuse, Check the brake light switch, In that order.
Blown fuse or bad brake light switch?
This is operating as intended. Brake lights are only activated when the brake pedal is pressed, irrespective of the other lights in use. It is a safety feature so vehicles behind are aware the brakes have been applied. They are separate from the tail lights so they still give a visual indication of braking whether the other lights are on or off.
Check the brake light fuse, the bulbs, the brake light switch and last, check the signal switch.
Check the brake light fuse. If you have 12 volts at the brake light switch I would suspect the signal light switch is at fault.
change the brake lights check the fuse check the brake light swtch
this tells you is a simple wiring problem.most likely a loose wire from the third light to the other lights.(third lights provides the power to the other lights)
Check for a brake light fuse
Check your brake light switch at hte brake pedal.
Two filaments in the light bulb. One is the tail light, the other is the brake light.
Brake Lights that Will Not Turn OffAlthough it's possible there could be other reasons, the most common causes for brake lights to stay on continuously include:The brake light [if mounting position is adjustable] is out of adjustment, orThe brake light switch contacts are fused ["welded"/melted] together, orThe brake light switch is otherwise defective.
If it is the tail lights, it is the headlight switch. If it is the brake lights, it is probably the brake light switch. I really don't know how to replace the bulb in the 3rd light. change the brake light bulb first it may be shorted causeing the other problem
