In order for water to freeze, the molecules must align themselves in an orderly fashion. When there are impurities, such as salt (but any impurity will do), they prevent the water from reaching this ordered state as easily. This requires the water to be colder before it freezes.

The salt is an impurity which when added to the ice, causes the melting point to be lowered. so if the temperature is 20 degree C, and you add salt to the ice, the melting will be lowered. It will melt faster than the one without the salt.

Salt lowers the freezing point of water because the molecules prevent the water from freezing more, so therefore, it takes more time to freeze. You must use an impurity ( such as salt and sugar ) for this experiment.

Because once you put salt in the water it disrupts the water and so the salt doesn't freeze so when the salt is in there it's like it doesn't want to freeze so it doesn't let the water freeze until it gets to cold for it to bare.

The temperature at which nucleation will occur is lower. Translation: The freezing/melting point of the system is decreased because of the interference of the salt ions. The salt ions become interposed between the water molecules, making it more difficult for them to nucleate (aggregate or freeze) to form crystals.
