People say "It depends" when they don't know what the favour is. If they say yes, and then you say "Pay off my car loan," they probably will regret saying yes.

∙ 13y agoBecause they don't want to promise something they can't deliver. If they say yes, and then you ask for $1000, what can they do. So saying "It depends" is a reasonable answer.
