There's a plastic cable with teeth inside your antenna. A gear in the antenna base engages this "cable" and pushes/pulls the antenna. Sounds like either the gear or cable has some broken teeth. It won't hurt for the motor to keep going like this, but your antenna may break at any time. hth, K All true, and new antennas are fairly cheap <$40 and easy to install
