Have your alternator tested to make sure it is charging. Many auto part stores will do this for free. If it is, then the real fun starts, finding the short. to find a short get an amp meter and hook it up between the neg battery terminal and the (removed from battery) negative battery cable. With the car shut off it should read less than .5 amp draw, any higher will drain the battery pretty quick. If above .5 amp have a friend remove fuses one at a time and watch the meter when it drops you have found the circuit, trace wires etc. on that circuit to find the short. A common problem with batteries going dead when a car sits is a glove box light, or trunk light that fails to go out when they are closed.
No way, only if the battery fails under a load test
With great wailing and Knashing of teeth. I just replaced mine today. It took me an hour to get it out.
how do you change a battery on a 2002 Pontiac Montana
I replaced tge battery in my 2008 pontiac montana ''i took out the cross member and had to take the fuse box apart to get the old battery out when i put the new battery in and put the fuse box back together i got power to the car but no power to the starter '' have you any idea what could be the matter ;;thanks Jim
I recently replaced the battery in my 2003 Pontiac Vibe for $ 79.95 plus tax. I live in Canada, and if you live in the States, you probably would pay less. Keep in mind that this price does not include installation, however, the battery is easy to install. I might add that since replacing the battery my CD now works.
check your alternator or make sure the starter is on correctly
Have you tried replacing the starter? it also could be the fuel regulator
with the motor running and radio off press buttons 1 and 4 on the radio this should unlock the radio
I believe the Pontiac GS did.
Disconnect the battery again and allow the systems to re-reset. This may solve your problem. Y-THINK-Y
For a Pontiac Montana the battery is a group 78. Follow this link for dimensions.http://www.rtpnet.org/teaa/bcigroup.html
The battery on a 2005 Pontiac Montana is changed by raising the hood, loosening both of the battery cables, and lifting them off the posts. The old battery can then be lifted out, a new battery put in, and the cables reattached.
