There are a few ways to get rid of dirt in your swimming pool. Firstly there is a chemical that you can get in which will force all dirt suspended in the water to sink to the bottom. To clean the bottom of the pool for the first time, you will need a swimming pool hose, a vaccum head and a telescopic wand. All are available from a pool shop. You plug the vaccum head onto the telescopic wand and plug one end of the hose onto the vaccum head. Leave the vaccum head sitting over the water. Turn the filtration system on. Take the free end of the hose and fill with water by placing over a return jet. When all the air is out of the hose, take the free end and plug into your skimmer box. You will now be able to vaccum your pool by running the vaccum head along the bottom of the pool. Once clean, disconnect all equipment and backwash the pool. The pool should now be clean. Afterwards, you could consider buying an Auto Pool Cleaner - they move by using the filtration system and clean whenever they're in the pool. The only thing to remember though is that you will need to backwash regularly, since it is always cleaning the pool.

The chemical is a floc which is mixed in a bucket of water and spread of a maximum surface of the pool while the filter is operating for several hours on "Recirculate". Then turn off filter for a day or two to allow the sediment to settle before vacuuming. When vacuuming the sediment from the floor of the pool, do not vacuum through the filter. Vacuum to waste.

It definitely sounds as though there is something wrong with the filter cartridge. Vacuumed dirt should stay in the filter, to be disposed of when you clean (or backflush) the filter. It should be simple to remove the cartridge. If it is obviously in need of replacement, let me know the model # of the filter and I can quote you for a replacement. Or take it to your local Pool Store for inspection.

IT is possible that you have a damaged cartridge in a cartridge filter or the sand filter is not set on filter when you vacuum or the laterals in the sand filter are worn and it is blowing sand back into the pool.

Because you missed it and dirt sinks. While this may be true it is not entirely accurate. Depending on the type if "dirt" it is it may be that it was just missed. However, our pool is located close to a tree for level reasons. This was not a great place in the long run - but level. The pollen and also probably some algae dust is now at the bottom. It is NOT from dirty feet and I have vacuumed repeatedly. When you vacuum the dirt gets kicked into the water and mixes with it. It may be to fine a powder for the filter to clear out - depending on the type of pool filter. The vacuum we have also will not pull the finer silt like dust out of the pool and then it settles back down on the bottom about an hour after you clean it. Using a pool clarifier will NOT help this - because it will just help the particles sink back down to the bottom of the pool. If you have a larger pool with a vacuum and bag I would suggest lining the vacuum back with a finer mesh material than it has. Line the inside of the bag and see if that helps remove the finer silt.

Possibly because it is set on circulate and not on filter or if you have a cartridge filter the cartridge is damaged. Worn laterals in the sand filter can also cause sand to blow back into the pool.

Is it sand or a grayish dust? In either case you may have internal damage to the filter. D. E. : it may be one or more grids with holes. Sand: broken latteral.

Can you clean scaling and dirt stains from a plaster pool without draining?

If your pool filter is up and running, also it is best to clean the walls and floor if you have a normal to high chlorine level because this will be also your cleaning agent. Take a soft bristle brush, get in the pool and start cleaning, all the above should come off. it is better if the filter is running so you can vac out the dirt, when the dirt goes to the bottom of the pool.

Why would there be dirt along the seams in your in ground pool when I just vacuumed it last night?
