I have a 2001 Dodge Durango SLT with the 5.9L engine. The most common problem I've had with the front blower is that it will fail completely or only the high setting will work with the heater or AC.
This is caused by a blower resistor switch failure. The resistor switch is located under the passenger side of the dash above where a person's feet would rest. It is most difficult remove and install, but you can save up to $100 in labor if you can do it. Pepboys carries the part for about $20.
If it has rear heat it has two heater cores. One in the front and one in the back.
how do i replace a front heater core, back heater core, and a heater motor in a 2001 Chrysler town and country? need a detailed description.
back of the fuse box panel.
The front expansion valve is clogged.
If you are standing in front of the truck with the hood up, it is in the back left corner to the right of the heater resistor.
The heater core is located behind the center console. If you are sitting in the passenger seat of your vehicle, there is a panel to your left at the back of the center console that is held on with velcro at the back and then just some tabs that slide in with the panel in front. Pull that panel off and you will see the heater core right behind and the tubes going through the firewall.
More than likely the heater core, located on the firewall on the passenger side under the hood, is shot or the hoses connecting the the heater core to the system are shot.
I take it as the durango is a V-8 so if you are standing in front of the vehicle looking at the engine the cylinders on the right hand side are 1,3,5,7, and the cylinders on the left are 2,4,6,8, from front to back on both sides of the engine. Hope this helps
The rear/auxiliary climate controls are basically up-front, feed to the backs, and have their own temperature blend door and heater core in the back. To get you started, see the "Related Question" below which addresses the rear heater core, and I think also includes some information about the blend door.
when looking under the hood from directly in front of the car, it is on your left hand side toward the back. there is a plastic mold over it, but it is right against the firewall on the passenger side.
passanger side front to back 1,3,5,7 driver side front to back 2,4,6,8
Remove the glovebox and heater fan motor is at back on right hand side it twists out clockwise.
