Perhaps the pilot light is out and the gas has been turned off at the valve.
Because you set it that way
Either the fan is set at too high a speed or the burner did not light.
An air conditioner blows out heat
If it's blowing intake-temperature air, either you've got the fan alone switched on or the heating part isn't working for some reason. If it's a gas furnace, the pilot light may have gone out, or the gas may be shut off somewhere (at the furnace itself, at the emergency shutoff for the house, or possibly at the main inlet). If it's blowing actually COLD air (colder than intake), then you've probably got central air and you've somehow managed to turn on the air conditioner.
no heat would flow
Because you set it that way
because you got to light it....commen mistake
YES! If you do not have a cold air return on your furnace, you will have much higher heating bills as you will not be circulating the cold air from your home back to the furmace to be heated again.
There is a delay on the fan to allow the furnace to get hot so as not to blow cold air into the home at start up. There is also an `OFF` delay, where the fan runs for a minute or so after the flame shuts off. This is to cool down the furnace.
If the furnace only blows cold air the pilot light may be out. It may also be a fuse that has blown. However, you may need to contact a licensed electrician to find the problem.

it may blow cold air due to the fact that the heat anticipator on your thermostat may be set to long. you can change useing your owners manual for your thermostat but you should have a service tech do it
No, not if it's on a heat setting. Most home thermostats have a "Fan" setting that will blow cold air if the attic is cold.
Probably not. The issue is that your furnace needs several cold air returns thru the house to work efficiently and avoid damage to the furnace.
What type of furnace do you have?electric
ruud furnace only blows cold air, no heat
