Vagina's are smelly because they are slightly acidic to fight infection. They should smell slightly sour and every woman has a slightly different odor that also changes throughout her menstrual cycles.

Do NOT use douches or vaginal deodorants on your vagina as they do more harm than good. If you notice a very strong fishy or rotten vaginal smell, then you probably have an infection and should see a doctor.

Does she shower everyday; if not then that could be the reason she does smell. It is possible that what you smell is the scent of your wife. If she smells fishy, then she should go to a doctor and get tested for Trich.
