They are hijackers. Once they get attached to the cell of a living cell, they can take it over and "make" the living cell produce virus particles instead of cell parts. These particles can assemble into more viruses and then they break out of the cell (killing it) and begin the process again. They cannot make more viruses on their own.

Viruses are considered an exception to the cell theory because they not classified as a living thing. All the do is have a cell make more of them. The cell theory states that all living things are made of cells. Hope I helped.

Viruses sneak into cells and do something to the nucleus causing the cell to commit suicide, so then the virus uses the cell's nutrients and protein to be able to ripoduce.

Virus are an exception because viruses are alive only until they are inside their host cell. They are considered to behave dead when outside the host cell. Here a tempararily living.

Since a virus is not classified as a living thing, they are the exception to the cell theory. The cell theory states that all living things are made of cells.

Which organism is considered an exception to the cell theory?

Skeletal muscles and some fungal hyphae are not divided into cells but have a multinucleate cytoplasm. Some biologists consider unicellular organisms to be acellular

What type of cells does the cell theory apply to?

every single living organism with cells, so the cell theory, which states what classifies something as a cell, applies to all cells.note: viruses are not alivenote: slime molds such as Physarum polysephalum are acellular.

Why is the cell theory a theory and not a hypothesis?

The cell theory isn't a cell theory for atleast 2 reasons. The first reason that the cell theory is a theory is that viruses are a big exception to it. Viruses are not made of cells, and they don't have a metabolism and the activity of an organism depends on chemical reactions, but some scientists still consider them to be alive, so that goes against what the cell theory says. The second reason is simple...the first cell in the world obviously did not come from a preexisting cell. The cell theory states: 1. All living things are made of one or more cells 2. Cells only come from preexisting cells 3. Cells are the smallest unit of life

What do viruses have to rely on for replication?

They rely on their host. They can not reproduce on their own, so they are not considered living. They inject genetic information into a host cell and make the cell produce more viruses.

Viruses do not contradict the idea that all living things are made of cells because?

Viruses aren't considered to be alive because they depend on a host cell for energy and reproduction.

Identify two exceptions to the cell theory?

The bacteria and blue green algae are exception of the cell theory because they are devoid of the true nucleus or well organized nucleus.

They arent alive

Explain the statement Cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things.?

Yes.. All the organisms are made up of either single cell or multiple cells. Hence the cells are the basic unit of life.. The viruses are not considered as organisms by many and they are considered as particles. If viruses are considered as organisms, then its an exception.
