That's just the way it is. One sex bears the children and is called "women". The other is called "men".

For why our reproduction works the way it does, I think it just evolved out of neccessity and chance.

Females give birth and not males because the sperm in a males penis and when inserted in the vagina, the sperm travels to the egg which is inside a females body. ;) x!
